The 2025 NAMS convocation was attended by several distinguished dignitaries and eminent scientists. Key figures included Dr. Vinod Kumar Paul, member of NITI Aayog; Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Governor of Haryana; Dr. Abhijat C. Sheth, Chairman of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and President of the National Board of Examinations (NBE); Dr. V. M. Katoch, former Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR); and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director of Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur. Directors from AIIMS Jammu, AIIMS Darbhanga, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AIIMS Deoghar & Aiims Rishikesh along with pro-vice chancellors such as Dr. Nagarkar from SRM Institutes Chennai, were also present. The convocation was presided over by Dr. D. Behera, President of NAMS, New Delhi.At this exclusive event, In the orthopedics category only 3 were selected as Members of the Academy of Medical Sciences (MAMS) in India And across all medical specialties over the past 30 years, just 47 from orthopedics has received these honors. approximately 211 awardees from other branches of medicines were selected this 2025 ceremony,this underscored the rarity and prestige of NAMS recognition.
**Dr. Sarang Shete’s Achievements**Dr. Sarang Shete was one of the few in India who has phd in subject of Hip Arthroplasty awarded in 2024. Now among 3 orthopedic surgeons honored with the MAMS award at the 65th Annual Scientific Conference of NAMSCON 2025, held on 8th November at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He received this distinguished award from Dr. Vinod Kumar Paul. Dr. Sarang Shete is the first doctor from Belagavi, to receive this honor. His recognition reflects his two decades of successful work in orthopedics field, He was in news 3 years earlier for being first in North karnataka for execution of rare 8 Hour long complex Surgery TFR Total femur Replacement at KLE Belagavi,besides this his expertise in bone & joint tumours and limb salvage surgeries work is being praised recently.To this accolade, Dr. Shete was recently honored on 25 October by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Belagavi for his contributions to orthopedics, especially knee and hip replacement surgeries. His achievements have been congratulated by several prominent figures, including Dr. Kore, Chairman of the KLE Society; Rahul Shinde, CEO of the Zilla Parishad; Dr retd (col)Dayanand, MD of KLE Hospitals; Dr. Pawar, Principal of JNMC; and Dr. Madhav Prabhu, Clinical Services Director at KLE Hospital. Further recognition comes from eminent orthopedicians such as Prof. N. K. Maggu, former Head of Orthopaedics at PGIMER Rohtak, and Indias 94 year old decorated orthopedics Prof. S. M. Tuli, founder of IOA from Delhi.
